Governor Fashola Suggests General Buhari Is Too Old To Be President…
Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola seems to
be putting forward contradictory arguments. On one hand the governor
does not have a problem with the age of Muhammadu Buhari, his party’s –
All Progressives Congress (APC) – presidential candidate but says the
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate for Lagos State,
Jimi Agbaje is too old to govern the state.
Buhari is 72-years-old whereas Agbaje is 57-years-old.
Governor Fashola took the swipe at Agbaje’s age while addressing a crowd of Lagosians at an APC rally for its governorship candidate for Lagos State – Akinwunmi Ambode – calling on Lagosians to vote Ambode, who he described as a “young, vibrant candidate.” Ambode is 51-years old.
In his words: “You know what you must do. Open your eyes clearly. You see, this job is a tough job. When I took this job, at the age of 44, I was counting the number of white hair on my head. Today, at 52, I am counting the number of black hair on my head.
“Akinwunmi (Ambode) is younger than me. You need youthfulness to do this job. That man (Mr. Agbaje) is already 60, he cannot cope with this job. If you call him at night he will not take your phone.”
