Pictures from the Golden Globes 2014 Red Carpet worst Dress
It's one of the biggest social events on the A-list calendar, so the pressure is on for the A-list to shine at the Golden Globes.
And while Margot Robbie, Zooey Deschanel and Anna Gunn lit up the red carpet, leading the best-dressed pack in off-white, not everyone got it quite right.
Sandra Bullock, usually so fashion-forward, made a rare misstep at this year's event in an unflattering pink, blue and black color block gown and messy side ponytail but, way out in front of the worst-dressed pack, Lady Victoria Hervey wore a dress that made her resemble a reject from an X-rated version of Dancing On Ice.
Paula Patton, Julia Roberts and Jennifer Lawrence also turned heads for all the wrong reasons. Here FEMAIL round up the best and the very worst fashion of the 71st annual Golden Globes awards.
What WAS she thinking? Lady Victoria Hervey goes for the 'sexy' barely there look at the Golden Globes this year but her dress resembles a pair of opaque stockings
Paula Patton turned heads for all the wrong reasons in a white gown with a huge side ruffle
Sandra Bullock's unflattering color block Prabal Gurung did not do much for her figure
Julia Roberts' Dolce and Gabbana ensemble was part dress, part waitress' outfit
With pink shoulder straps, a sheer asymmetric hem and scattered embellishments, Zoe Saldana's Prabal Gurung look was just too busy
Newlywed Kaley Cuoco's glamorous make-up and hair were the perfect red carpet look, but her floral Rani Zakhem gown resembled a curtain
Berenice Bejo's bold red Giambattista Valli gown complemented her pretty lipstick, but the hip ruffles and blazer-style collar were all wrong
Lady Victoria's mind boggling creation is by Gaurav Gupta, a revered Indian designer who explains that his aesthetic is 'tying severe military lines to extreme couture, travelling through Greek Goths and creating a forest with magically real nymphs'. Take from that what you will, all we can say is we’re glad she didn’t opt for the matching sequin mask.
Sandra Bullock's unflattering color block Prabal Gurung didn't do much for her figure. Speaking about her fashion faux pas, celebrity stylist Jade Elliot said: 'Sandra never normally puts a foot wrong in my book but this block colour, dipped hem, slashed to the waist dress was bad on so many levels. This is too many trends in one outfit, lets hope she does better for the Oscars.'
As for Paul Patton, her stunning figure was draped in a tight white gown with a very large and ruffly embellishment running from the shoulder all the way down to the hem.
Robin Thicke's wife of nine years may have exuded confidence in the over-the-top look, but Golden Globes viewers begged to differ with her gown choice.
Indeed, one concerned Twitter user wrote: 'Quick! Someone help Paula Patton. Her dress is eating her alive,' while others compared the ensemble to 'a crumpled up piece of paper' and 'a tiered wedding cake'.
It seemed as if Julia Roberts confused two sartorial genres when she chose a black floor-length gown Dolce and Gabbana gown with three-quarter length white sleeves and a white collar.
The button-down shirt aspect of the look combined with the strapless black dress made her look more like a waitress than an A-lister on the red carpet.
Awkward details: Jennifer Lawrence resembled Little Bo Peep in her poufy white Dior gown, which was cinched awkwardly at the waist and below the hips with stark black straps
Is it a dress? Emma Watson's open back Dior ensemble, which looked like a gown from the front but revealed black pants at the back, resembled a glorified hospital gown
Paula Patton wasn't the only celebrity to let her elaborate white dress wear her rather than the other way around.
Red carpet darling Jennifer Lawrence suffered a rare fashion blunder in a white poufy gown reminiscent of Little Bo Peep.
The American Hustle actress, 23, was utterly swamped in the unflattering white Dior dress, which was cinched awkwardly at the waist and below the hips with black bands.
Aside from her dress, though, the star looked stunning in dramatic dark lipstick and black eyeliner, her hair in a sleek side-swept style. The Best Supporting Actress winner accessorised her look with a black clutch and bejeweled bracelets.
Jemima Kirke channeled her Girls character Jessa in a bohemian-inspired gown, but the drab colors were hardly red carpet worthy
Lena Dunham's bright canary Zac Posen dress was the opposite of mellow yellow, and it clashed with her lipstick and skin tone
Not quite right: Heidi Klum's black and white floral Marchesa gown exuded romance, but her black choker necklace and exaggerated cleavage took away from the dress's charm
Emma Watson's hair and make-up were flawless, but her dress that doubled as pants had some Golden Globes viewers confused. The short-sleeved Dior ensemble was tied at the waist and open at the back, revealing an unexpected pair of black trousers underneath.
Celebrity stylist Jade Elliot does, however, think that Emma was bang on trend. She said: 'Emma Watson rocked the golden globes last night in a look that I certainly didn’t predict! She is young, trendy and I certainly think this is fashion fun in a good way. I love the way she teamed the look with a pair of sassy blue Riger Vivier court shoes and two oversized pearls decorating her left ear you couldn’t get more fashion forward.'
Girls star Jemima Kirke channeled her character Jessa in a bohemian-style V-neck gown, her hair styled in stunning sweeping waves that fell to the side. But the ensemble's drab blue, beige and yellow tones failed to impress on the red carpet.
The actress's co-star Lena Dunham also made the worst-dressed list for her eye-catching yellow Zac Posen gown. Not only was the canary yellow too bright for her light skin tone, but it also clashed with her dark red lipstick.
And Heidi Klum chose a stunning and romantic black and white floral Marchesa gown for her red carpet look, but she managed to upstage the floaty dress with a harsh black choker necklace that detracted from the glamor.
'She is a regular on my worst dressed list. Heidi is working the nineties trend in all the wrong ways. It just goes to prove you need more than beauty and a model figure to look great on the red carpet,' said Jade.
In the best dressed corner was Margot Robbie, Zooey Deschanel and Anna Gunn.
The Wolf of Wall Street actress, 23, opted for a V-neck cream Gucci gown embellished with jewels on the shoulders and waist. A thigh-high slit added sex appeal to the look, which she paired with natural make-up and polished pulled-back hair.
New Girl star Zooey looked pretty as a princess in an off-white Oscar de la Renta tulle skirt and crop top, her hair in a side bun accessorised with a white flower. A glittery gold clutch and silver stilettos polished off her sparkling ensemble.
And Breaking Bad's Anna Gunn was picturesque in a gilded Donna Karan Atelier gown with a long, silk train. While cream gowns often run the risk of appearing bridal, each of the leading ladies avoided this fashion faux pas with various embellishments and stylish details like studs and jewels.

Shining stars: Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany opted for a shimmering silver Jenny Packham number (left) and American Horror story's Sara Paulson wore a gorgeous Marchesa gown and clutch (right)
Also on the light end of the spectrum were Downton Abbey's Michelle Dockery - who looked stunning in a beige Oscar de la Renta strapless gown with gold heels - and Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke, who wore a white and black Proenza Schouler.
Another color theme of the night is minimal red, as worn by 12 Years a Slave actress Lupita Nyong'o, American Hustle's Amy Adams and Julia Louis-Dreyfus from Veep.
Amy channeled her movie character in a plunging color block maroon and red halter top gown by Valention, her hair pulled back in a sleek updo. The Best Actress nominee kept jewelry simple with pearl earrings and a small pendant necklace.
Lupita looked stunning in a bright coral Ralph Lauren cape gown that flattered her curves. She wore minimal make-up, letting the gorgeous dress speak for itself.

English TV presenter Louise Roe coordinated perfectly with the red carpet in a scarlet Monique Lhuillier gown with lace sleeves. She accessorized the look with dark eye make-up and a golden Marchesa clutch.
And NBC's Savannah Guthrie joined the ranks of best-dressed even as she reported from the red carpet in a bright orange long-sleeved gown.
There's no better place than the red carpet for a sequin-embellished dress, and a number of A-listers at this awards show including Olivia Wilde, Helen Mirren and Elisabeth Moss took advantage of the opportunity for glitz and glamor.
The pregnant Ms Wilde dressed her growing baby bump in a forest green long-sleeve Gucci. And with her ombre hair styled in floaty waves, the 29-year-old actress channeled a mermaid.
Seeing green: Pregnant Olivia Wilde dressed her baby bump in a forest green long-sleeved sequin gown and matching satin pumps (left), and Helen Mirren went for a similar look in sea foam green and sparkled (right)
All that glitters: Mad Men's Elisabeth Moss looked edgy in a bedazzled J Mendel, and Matthew McConaughey's gorgeous wife Camila Alves wore Dolce and Gabbana
Helen Mirren joined the embellished team, defying her 69 years yet again in a sea foam green Jenny Packham gownwith blue sequins.
Elisabeth Moss and Camila Alves, Matthew McConaughey's wife, went for darker ensembles jazzed up with eye-catching sparkles.
The Mad Men actress, who picked up an award for Best Actress in a Mini-Series or TV Movie for Top of the Lake, dazzled in a black and dark red J Mendel gown, worn with strappy black sandals.
And Ms Alves looked ravishing in a simple black long-sleeved Dolce and Gabbana gown covered in sequins.
Of course, nothing says glamor like a classic black gown, which Jessica Chastain, Emma Roberts and Cate Blanchett all opted for.
Jessica Chastain wore a black Givenchy by Riccardo with a sweetheart neckline
Emma Roberts kept it simple in a glamorous black off-the-shoulder Lanvin and turquoise earrings
Cate Blanchett was as dazzling as ever in a black lacy Armani Prive gown
Time to shine: Amber Heard (left) turned heads in a navy blue Versace and hair-raising bouffant, and Kate Beckinsale (right) was ravishing in strapless silver
The hostesses with the mostest: Amy Poehler donned a fall 2014 Stella McCartney dress that hasn't even hit the runway yet , while her partner in crime Tina Fey came up roses in Carolina Herrera
But the actresses all had sartorial twists to their gowns - like Ms Blanchett's Victorian high collar and Emma's romantic fishtail - for added red carpet appeal.
Ms Chastain's strapless Givenchy by Riccardo gown featured a flattering sweetheart neckline and winged detail, and she upped the old Hollywood glamor with a diamond necklace and swept back hair.
Emma Roberts' off-the-shoulder Lanvin accentuated her petite frame, and she kept her ensemble stylishly minimal by opting for dangling turquoise earrings instead of a necklace.
Both Allison Williams and Jenna Dewan-Tatum opted for monochrome looks on the red carpet, but these black-and-white ensembles were anything but boring.
Allison Williams accentuated her slim waist in a striped Alexander McQueen number with an unexpected cutout on the shoulders
Jenna Dewan-Tatum gave birth to her daughter just eight months ago, but she managed to squeeze her petite frame into a stunning Roberto Cavalli gown
Simple style: Both Leslie Mann (left, in Dolce and Gabbana) and Naomi Watts (right, in Tom Ford) played it safe in simple styles that were easy red carpet winners
The Girls star, 26, wore a striped Alexander McQueen gown that accentuated her slim waist. She paired the look with dramatic dark eyeliner and sleek straight hair.
And it was hard to belief that Channing Tatum's wife Jenna gave birth just eight months ago; she squeezed her slender frame into a stunning black and white strapless Roberto Cavalli gown with beaded embellishments.
As the hostesses, all eyes were on Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, and the comedy dream team certainly didn't disappoint.
The 30 Rock star blossomed for the cameras in a black Carolina Herrera strapless ensemble with a red rose pattern, while the Parks and Recreation actress wore a gorgeous fall 2014 Stella McCartney dress that hasn't even hit the runway yet.
The navy blue number with asymmetric sleeves and a playful cutout detail above the waist flattered her small five-foot-two frame.
