The Directorate of State of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has announced the indefinite suspension of the Office of the Leader of IPOB and the position of Director of Radio Biafra, both of which were previously occupied by Nnamdi Kanu. The decision, according to the group, will remain in effect pending further notice. The development marks a significant shift in IPOB’s internal structure, as the suspended positions have long been associated with Kanu, who remains a central figure in the movement. Observers say the decision could have implications for the group’s leadership framework and future operations. In a statement, the Directorate said the move forms part of ongoing administrative and organizational measures within the separatist movement and further information would be communicated at an appropriate time.

The Borno State Government has successfully reintegrated 720 repentant insurgents who completed the state’s deradicalisation, rehabilitation, and reintegration program back into society. The Boko Haram insurgency, which began in 2009, has caused widespread displacement and loss of life across Nigeria’s North-East, making rehabilitation and reintegration programs a key part of broader efforts to restore stability in the region. About 720 former insurgents completed the rehabilitation and reintegration programs in Maiduguri, Borno State, as part of ongoing efforts to reduce violence and support long-term peace in Nigeria’s North-East. The Federal Government has signed an agreement with the Government of Ethiopia to transfer more than 100 Nigerian prisoners serving sentences in Ethiopian correctional facilities back to Nigeria. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu  alongside the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi,   said the agreement  was aimed at facilitating the repatriation of Nigerian inmates currently held in Kaliti Prison and Aba Samuel Prison in Ethiopia. The deal is a bilateral Transfer of Sentenced Persons Agreement between the two countries and  the agreement reflects the commitment of President Bola Tinubu’s administration to the welfare and protection of Nigerians abroad she said. The Permanent Secretary of LSHSC, Dr. Ademuyiwa Eniayewun, in a signed statement, said the administration had approved the recruitment of large numbers of health workers while also directing that exit replacement be ensured as and when due to cushion the effects of brain drain, which he noted, occurred in the health sector from time to time. The recruitment, which is aimed at reducing negative impact of brain drain in the sector, is also to ensure that residents get optimal health care whenever they access government hospitals for medical service.
