Oyo Imposes Curfew in 10 LGAs to Tackle Kidnapping, Insecurity

IBADAN, Nigeria – The Oyo State Government has imposed a temporary curfew across 10 local government areas surrounding the Old Oyo National Park as part of intensified efforts to combat kidnapping, banditry, and other criminal activities in the region.

According to a statement by the Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade, the curfew takes effect from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m., beginning Wednesday, June 24, 2026, and will remain in force for an initial 48 hours.

The affected local government areas include Oriire, Orelope, Irepo, Saki West, Saki East, Atisbo, Itesiwaju, Iseyin, Olorunsogo, and Atiba.


The government said the measure is aimed at supporting ongoing security operations targeting criminal elements operating around the Old Oyo National Park, an area that has witnessed growing cases of kidnapping and other security threats.

Residents have been urged to comply fully with the curfew as security agencies intensify efforts to restore peace, protect lives and property, and strengthen security across the affected communities.

State authorities reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the safety of residents and maintaining law and order throughout Oyo State.
