IBILE Youth Academy is a leadership training platform designed to inculcate youths for virtues Citizenship, Leadership,Volunteerism and personality development for the society, the state and by extension the Nation. The leadership training will also ignite youths transformation required for a brighter future.Lagos State has a large population of young people between the ages of 15-35 which represent an estimate of 60% of the total population,Given the nature of the State as the economic hub of Nigeria, much of the socio-economic challenges confronting the State are borne by the youths and this calls for a multi-sector approach targeted towards the development of sustainable livelihoods, reduce poverty, inequality and promote enabling environment for Youth development,offering various programmes that will build the health, physical, personal, social, cognitive,creative,citizenship and civic competencies of the youths
This Year 2022 IBILE Youth Academy Training ongoing simultaneously at the following Centres cut across the 5 divisions of the State,
IKORODU DIVISION – IKORODU YOUTH CENTRE, ITA ELEWA
BADAGRY DIVISION – OTO AWORI YOUTH CENTRE
IKEJA DIVISION – AYOBO IPAJA YOUTH CENTRE
LAGOS DIVISION – ONIKAN YOUTH CENTRE
EPE DIVISION – EPE LOCAL GOVERNMENT, EPE
During this 5 days training, apart from the facilitators that will take the youths through the selected leadership topics, there will be sessions with Special Guests who mostly are people who have made an impact and are role models in the Society, they will share their experiences, interact and inspire youths to be worthy leaders in the nearest future.
Ten (15) external assessors will assess participants; three per training centre. Participants activities will be assessed and graded in following areas: cognitive domain, affective domain and psychomotor. The assessment report will produced ten (10) outstanding participants from each of the Five (5) Training Centres that will proceed to the 2nd phase of leadership training Camp.
At the end of the camping exercise, the participants who distinguished himself / herself as the exceptional and outstanding will be named “STATE YOUTH AMBASSADOR 2022”. The leading participants from each Division will also be named “DIVISIONAL YOUTH AMBASSADORS” Based on the positive impact of this programme in the past few years, and in line with the vision and commitment of Mr. Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo Olu to make the Youth in the State compete globally, the Year 2021 Ambassadorial team participated in a Leadership Training Programme in Barcelona Spain, in September 2022, tagged, “New Kind of Leadership”. Based on this development and kind gesture of Mr. Governor, the Year 2022 IBILE Youth Academy has been expanded to accommodate more young people in the State.
At the end of this 5 days training, the youthful participants must have:
i.gained greater understanding of the responsibility of being a leader;
ii.improved your communication skills with your peers and adults;
iii.improved your ability to understand and contribute to the policies and visions of Lagos State Government;
iv.harnessed the power of positive thinking and directing it towards influencing yourselves, your peers, and the society and aiming towards greatness at every level.
Equally, you will be taken through the following Leadership topics during the course of the 5 day training:

ii.Entrepreneurship & Employability Skills
iii.Drug and Substance Abuse (Preventive and After Effect)
iv.Effective Communication & Public Speaking
v.Environmental Responsibility
vi.Mastery of Self Discovery, Goal Setting & Goal Scoring
vii.Financial Intelligence and Investment
viii.Volunteerism and Team Building
Speaking at the opening,MR. OLUSEGUN DAWODU HONOURABLE COMMISSIONER MINISTRY OF YOUTH AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT said based on the new developments on the Academy, the youth attendance, attentiveness, team building efforts, active participation, and social interaction should be accorded top priority as these will standout a participant you in the eye of the assessors.In simple terms, the academy is all about helping young people to chart a path for a progressive and prosperous adult life while it promises to be a life changing and once in a life time experience.
Therefore, you are expected to exercise a high level of commitment, decorum and responsibility in the course of the training. In this direction, you should give your best and cooperate with the Coordinator, Facilitators and Assessors so that you all can appropriate the gains of this training
This training program will also enable all its participants particular those disadvantaged or in the most need, to reach the full potential as responsible citizens by providing all necessary resource and inculcating beliefs that they can succeed and receive recognition for their personal accomplishments.
The State Government shall continue to create an enabling environment for the teeming youth in the State to maximize their potentials. The Ministry is calling on Private Sectors, NGOs and Philanthropists to partner with us to assist our young people especially in the areas of mentorship, apprenticeship, employment and entrepreneurship in other to make the lives of the youth in Lagos State and in Nigeria better.
