5 Student Designers Represent Unilag, Babcock & Bells University at NSFDW 2015!

It’s less than 4 weeks to the Winasbet Nigerian Student Fashion And Design Week and in this publication we will be focusing on some of the student designers that will be showcasing their new collections at the fashion week. These are young, emerging and enterprising students who have successfully been able to combine  academics and business. The University of Lagos, Akoka will be hosting this year’s edition of NSFDW and there shall be over 40 student and non student designers showcasing.


1.  ABRAHAM OLUWASEUN MORAFA

Abraham Oluwaseun Morafa is the owner of Unilag’s fast rising brand.”MORAFA”, he’s currently studying an English student at the University of Lagos. His collection brings to light indescribable sophistication and creative designs with detail-oriented, fuss-free tailoring of the best materials and finishing to satisfy the discerning buyer, The collection simply has an indefinable panache presently unseen , or even yet unworn.
Says Abraham. He got to know about NSFDW in 2014. When he attended the second edition at the time. He saw it was a great platform for young and upcoming designers like him to showcase their talent. So he was determined to participate this year. He’s looking forward to a great, fabulous show.

2. OYINYECHI AMADI-THOMPSON
Oyinyechi is the creative director of fast rising fashion brand ‘St O’MaaN’. She is an undergraduate student at the Wisconsin International University College in Ghana. She will be unveiling her 2015 collection ‘The Elegant Stylish Woman’. This collection is inspired by the watchword “Elegant And Stylish”. Oyinyechi registered for NSFDW because she sees it as a great platform to showcase her work. She believes it would give the publicity her brand
needs and it is also an opportunity to network and learn from other designers. She looks forward to her return back to Nigeria and to the fashion week.

3. OKUNUGA ADEPEJU ZAINAB   
Adepeju is the brain behind the popular fashion brand in Babcock University; OZA COUTURE. She has won several awards in her University and was listed earlier this year by BlackNBold Fashion House as one of the 15 Emerging Designers to lookout for in 2015. She will be unveiling her 2015 collection “THE ENCENDER COLLECTION”.  Her new collection is inspired by the Cinderella dress made by sandy Powell, and the drive to do something out of the ordinary.  “I was fortunate to be acquitted with the CEO of BlackNBold Fashion House, it was from him I first heard about the Nigerian students fashion and design week”. Adepeju believes the Nigerian fashion industry has grown tremendously over the last few years, and she is happy to see what the past and current designers have done with the industry.
4.  CHINENYENWA EKEJIUBA
Chinny as she is fondly called is the creative director of  the CONAE INSIGNIA brand. She is one of the most popular and gifted designers at Bells University where she is currently studying Bio medical Engineering.  She heard about NSFDW through the Internet and she is so excited to be one of the designers showcasing this year.  “My expectations are a lot but my main expectation is hoping the show will create a  good platform for not only the most creative designer but for all designers participating” Says Chinenyenwa.
5. IFARAJIMI FAITH 
Meet Ifarajimi Faith, the CEO of “BLOKE OLUWAJIMI” A student of Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta. The Inspiration behind the ‘Dream Collection’ which he will be unveiling at NSFDW is a narration of the struggle of the every day life which inspires one never to give up. “Nigerian Student Fashion And Design Week (NSFDW) is an amazing platform for young designers. I am convinced it is the kind of platform needed by my emerging brand”. Says Ifarajimi.
